PETERHEAD SCOTTISH WEEK CONFIRM
CARRIE MAC and SCARLETTE FEVER

Performing alongside RAF Red Arrows and top 10 girl group PARADE
for performance in Peterhead this Summer

Peterhead Scottish Week have continued to strengthen the 50th anniversary of the week long gala by confirming CARRIE MAC and SCARLETTE FEVER will be performing an exclusive gig alongside the already announced top 10 girl group PARADE on Friday 22 July 2011.

CARRIE MAC, who won Bauer Radio’s Radio Forth’s “One To Watch” award in 2008, made the perfect start to the year by kicking off a 29-date tour with Alexandra Burke. To add to her success, she was also nominated for the Scottish Variety Awards “Best New Act” Award. Carrie made her first attempt to translate the accolades she is enjoying into UK chart success with single “Till I See You Again”.

SCARLETTE FEVER is fresh from touring with Mike & The Mechanics and looks set to strengthen the line-up for Peterhead Scottish Week 2011. Having previously released singles like “Black & White” plus “Crash & Burn”, which hit the B-list on BBC Radio 2 and won praise everywhere from The Sun, Star Magazine and Record of the Day, to teen favourites Mizz, Sugar and Bliss. Scarlette is now looking onto her debut album “Medication Time” which includes an inspiring mix of stand-out orchestral ballads, accessible guitar-led growers and classic pop, all brimming with anthemic chord changes and hooks.

The line-up will be part of an evening performance at the Lido Marquee, in the unique setting overlooking Peterhead Bay. The RAF Red Arrows have also confirmed they will be performing an air show to launch this gig. Further artists performing alongside PARADE, CARRIE MAC and SCARLETTE FEVER are set to be announced soon.

Graham Barron, Chairman of Peterhead Scottish Week for 2011, said: “CARRIE MAC is the first Scottish artist we have announced and as well as being a great talent she is very fitting to be part of the line-up. Also confirmed is SCARLETTE FEVER who has such an infectious sound and this backed by the fans reaction to previous gigs she’s performed at."

RED ARROWS RETURN TO THE BLUE TOON
FOR PETERHEAD SCOTTISH WEEK

Peterhead Scottish Week are delighted to announce the return of The Red Arrows to help celebrate the galas 50th year. This is due to the determination of the committee and the generosity of Peterhead Port Authority.

The announcement comes after a lengthy application process beginning back in 2009. However, the Committee were informed in January that the application had been declined. Disappointed but not undeterred the group began the fight for their return.

The Red Arrows last appeared in Peterhead in 1999 and will cost the organisation in excess of ten thousand pounds. Five thousand pounds of this has been generously pledged by Peterhead Port Authority, which has enabled the group to commit to the show.

Mr John Wallace of Peterhead Port Authority said “We are delighted to be sponsoring Scottish Week to bring the Red Arrows display team back to Peterhead. They put on an exciting show and we hope most people in the town will see the display. Peterhead Port Authority supports a range of events, charities and organisations and this ticked all the boxes. It links the port with the local community and has wide appeal. The Scottish Week committee have done a great job pulling together a fabulous programme of events and should be congratulated for their hard work.”

The fight for the return of the display group was led by Scottish Week Chairman Graham Barron. Mr Barron said “due to public demand it was imperative that the Red Arrows returned for our Golden Anniversary. When we were told that we had been unsuccessful, we knew we simply could not accept this decision. We could not disappoint the town. So with the backing of our MP Elidh Whiteford we negotiated with the display team and it is with great joy that I had the privilege to return to the committee and tell them they were coming! I now urge the people of Peterhead to match the generosity of The Port and dig deep and help us raise the other half.

When Peterhead Port Authority told us that they would donate half of the fee, our task became more achievable. I must thank them on behalf of the town, they have been continuously good to Peterhead Scottish Week but the donation this year is vital to the return of the Red Arrows.”

The Red Arrows is just one of the many attractions organised to showcase 50 years of Peterhead Scottish Week. Lots of events have been confirmed with many more to be announced.

The Air Display is confirmed for the evening on Friday 22nd July. The Red Arrows are scheduled to launch the night, before top 10 girl group PARADE plus other artists soon to be announced perform in the Lido Marquee.

PETERHEAD SCOTTISH WEEK
MAKES THE POP MUSIC MAP WITH TOP 10 ARTIST

Girl band PARADE are the first major act announced to
perform live in Peterhead this Summer

Peterhead Scottish Week have made sure the 50th anniversary of the week long gala will be the biggest ever by confirming that girl band PARADE will be performing in the town on Friday 22 July 2011.

PARADE stormed into the charts last weekend with their debut single “Louder”. The all girl group have previously joined Alexandra Burke on tour, who also performed in Peterhead in 2009. These 5 girls are shaking up the charts with their winning formula of style, sassiness, iconic streetdance-inspired moves and most importantly, killer pop tunes. “Louder” is the first single from PARADE’s debut album which follows later in the year and has been recorded between the UK and LA.

The venue for the evening performance will be the Lido Marquee, in the unique setting overlooking Peterhead Bay. Further artists performing alongside PARADE are set to be announced soon.

Graham Barron, Chairman of Peterhead Scottish Week for 2011, said: “I knew the Marquee for the galas 50th anniversary would be an ideal venue for the concert. A real tribute for the town to mark such a monumental achievement. The event will give Peterhead some positive publicity and I’m sure from the line up tickets will sell fast. The gig is going to be fantastic. I’m sure everyone from Peterhead will be looking forward to giving PARADE and their team a traditional Scottish welcome."

Peterhead Scottish Week is the only remaining "Scottish Week" that attracts thousands of people annually to descend on Peterhead in Aberdeenshire. This year the Saturday 16 July until Sunday 24 July 2011 and the gig is part of a week long programme of events.
