The 60th edition of “Peterhead Scottish Week”, (the biggest and longest running weeklong gala in the country) is almost upon us. Behind the scenes the committee have been planning to celebrate this diamond anniversary with a week of events, which includes something very special.

As part of the “59 1/2 Peterhead Scottish Week”, the committee have managed to secure the world famous R.A.F. Red Arrows for the 8th time to fly over Peterhead Bay. The display team last appeared in 2018 during the 57th Peterhead Scottish Week.
Since the very first Peterhead Scottish Week in 1962, there has been a “Buchan Queen” accompanied by two “Buchan Princesses”. However, for the first time ever, the event has been shelved for 2021, but is set to return for next year’s 60th Scottish Week celebrations.
As promised, a 59th Peterhead Scottish Week has commenced in the North East town with 29 events planned “virtually” over the course of 9 days. The Buchan Queen’s “Crowning Ceremony” was without an audience and broadcast live on YouTube and Facebook.
The Peterhead Scottish Week committee are on the look out for former Buchan Queens and Buchan Princesses to nominate themselves for this year’s Buchan Queen.
Due to the Global COVID19 pandemic many events including the Olympic games, the Eurovision Song Contest and the London Marathon had to be cancelled.
